Draw with as much detail as possible an inanimate object from 3 different angles.

Work on your Yolasite - actually look at the rubric outline to make sure you have everything included.

Warm Up: Rainstorm, Windstorm, Brainstorm

·     At the top of your page please list these 3 Categories:
Carteret County, Shopping, and Reasons why it’s important to shop locally.
Then under each category, write as many words as possible that come to mind under each section.  Go GO GOOO!  Keep your pencil moving – if you can’t think of something to write, then keep writing “I can’t think of something to write” over and over until you can.  KEEP YOUR PENCIL MOVING!!!!!

·     When you are done with your words, add little images that would go with each of your thoughts

Warm Up: Persuasive Writing/ Persuasive Symbols

·     Write 2 paragraphs persuading someone to shop locally here in Carteret County.  Explain the benefits and the unique qualities about our area and what makes it unique. 

·     Then draw a symbol that would put all of your persuasive words into one unified image. 

·     Then write a statement using only 3-6 words to go with your image

On your 4th artist presentation – WE DO NOT WANT TO BE BORED.  Please create a NEW way to present the material – the images, the quotes, the background information, etc. 

Take out the sheet with all the required information that needs to be included and invent a new way, exciting way, non-boring way to present the information.

Warm Up: Please Say Thanks! The art of the handwritten note.

5 Characteristics of a good Thank you note:

·      Generous – send a note even if you already thanked the giver

·      Specific – mention the gift, but thank them for the thought behind it

·      Prompt – send it right away

·      Succinct – write about unrelated matters in a separate note

·      Personal – write it by hand

Today for your warm up write a rough draft of a thank you letter to Mr. Poletti for his generosity in taking his time on Friday to serve us ice cream. – For his thoughtfulness, kindness, generosity, the difference he made, how much we enjoyed the celebration, etc.

Then using your best hand writing, use the paper up front to write him a thank you note.  We will deliver them to him this afternoon.

Today’s Focus:  Work on your drawing, your prezi in the library, the sketchbook project books are here, or a special project.

Warm Up: Spread the Word!  

Create a poster that would encourage others to say thank you. Develop a slogan or saying for your poster as well as images.  Design your poster by adding color, images and words. Construct something we could actually hang up!

 

Today’s Focus:  Work on your drawing, your prezi in the library, the sketchbook project books are here, or a special project (ceiling tiles, art resource area, thanks posters, etc…)

Choose one of your Social Issues/Changing Behavior Ideas and expand on it.  Does your voice shine through?  What do you want to say in your artwork?  What behavior do you want your viewer to change and why is it even important that they do?  What’s the point?  Communicate through your images!!! Look at the background or negative space – is it empty?  Did you think about all the space?  Does your image say what you want it to say? 

Take this time to write down your thoughts and the answers to the questions, then write down or add images that would make the image or what you want to say complete.

·      What comes to mind when you hear the word artist.  You may journal and draw about what comes to your mind.  Complete a finished image integrated with text.

·      If you finish, start drawing a color wheel and a chart based on what you know as far as primary, secondary, and tertiary colors go.  What colors do you mix together to get new colors… and other information about color mixing and color theory…

Homework:  Make sure to bring in the art images for your swipe file or reference file.  Remember to include at least 10 different artists who inspire you or who you like their work.  Make sure to include famous artists and possibly a variety of styles.  Also include a statement about each of your selected artists. We will add to your file throughout the semester.  So always be on the lookout for artists new to you who inspire you!!!

Student Handbook:   Food/Drink is NOT permitted in the hallways or classrooms.

Also – do not chew gum in the art room.  I asked not to see it and I am seeing it – so here is your warning – if I see you chewing gum, the 1st infraction will be lunch detention.

Today’s Focus:

Review of Elements of Art and Principles of Design

·       Line, Shape, Space, Texture, Value, Color, Form

·       Unity, Harmony, Contrast, Repetition, Variety, Emphasis, Proportion

Make a grid using the elements and principles.  Draw an image for each combination.

 

Homework:

Finish your elements and principles grid.

Bring in 26 images of examples of elements of art or principles of design from magazines.  Images need to be at least 3.5 by 3.5 inches.  Just bigger than a post it note!

Journal Warm Up:

Fill up a page writing words and sentences describing how you feel right now.  About school, life, etc…

Then draw a picture that puts your words into an image.

Today’s focus:

Mr. Mini Bones and drawing positive and negative spaces.

Homework: 

Pick one item and draw the negative space of the object.  Fill in the negative space in a way of your choice.

Welcome to Art!!!

Please quietly fill out the blue info sheet.

 

We will begin 3 drawings today.

Take your time and add details

-       and remember to do your best! 

-       Make sure to include your name and the date and class. (Art I or Art III)

 

·     Draw someone from memory.

·     Draw your hand in some appropriate form.

·     Draw a self-portrait using (sharing) a mirror.

After you complete each drawing, write several paragraphs about the experience of drawing each item on the back of the sheet.  Please remember to write your name and date on each drawing!

Classwork/Homework if you don’t finish:

On a separate sheet when you finish your drawings and journaling please answer the following questions writing at least a paragraph for each:

-       What is art?

-       Why is art important?

-       What projects have you done in art before that you loved?

-       What projects have you done that you didn’t enjoy so much?

-       What projects have you seen other students do that you thought you might like to try?

-       What do you really want to learn about in art this year?

-       Write your goals for art:

-       Then draw a picture of your favorite thing to draw!
